Abstract


A QUALITY ANALYSIS OF VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE STUDIES: SAMPLE OF IMPRESSION NILUFER IMKB AND TOFAŞ SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOLS
Career guidance in schools is important because it allows the young individual to recognize itself. This research was held with teenagers, psychological counsellor and school administrators and was aimed to investigate their views on the qualitative analysis carried out by professional guidance. Young people are given career guidance in many countries in all levels of education. So that, problems referring to the individual occupations and occupational choices are being considered to be the main in this research. Career Guidance contains school Psychological Guidance and Counselling Services that play an important function in selection of work and profession by students, in choosing of the future plans they want to accomplish. The range of interviews regarding presented topic have been held within this study with teenagers, career guides, psychological counsellors and school administrators in High Schools of Science. Using the semi-structured interview technique, data were collected. On a volunteer basis interviews were conducted in the two central High Schools in the city of Bursa, with 6 school managers, 2 psychological counsellors (guiding teachers) and 48 high school students. Applying content analysis collected data were analyzed and divided into themes and sub-themes. According to the results of a research, school administrators and benefits they provide to teenagers in career guidance - such as broadening of outlook horizon, decisions that are to be made by teenager themselves, conscious choices of profession, career recognition, the direction of self -knowledge and future planning functions of young people- were determined.
