Abstract

Volunteer work is the work of individuals to be beneficial to other individuals and to be beneficial to the society without the expectation of a material response. Volunteer work is the work of individuals to be beneficial to other individuals and to be beneficial to the society without the expectation of a material response. The aim of this study is to reveal the feelings of being a volunteer worker. Qualitative data collection and structured interview techniques were used in this study. The structured interview form which was developed by the researchers was used as a data collection tool. 15 women (75%) and 5 men (25%) participated in the study as a voluntary worker to İZOT İzmir Autism Orchestra and Choir. The age of volunteer workers ranged from 19 to 29 and the average age was 22 years. According to the findings, it was gathered under 5 different themes that the individual felt as a volunteer worker. Being a volunteer worker; It enables individuals to engage in social interaction and to have responsibility, increases their self-esteem and awareness and is seen as a positive experience in terms of career development. The results of the research are important in terms of the meaning of voluntary work gained in an individual's life.
