Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare the receptive and expressive language skills of children with autism with typical developmental children. In this study, 30 children with typical development and 30 children with atypical autism were examined by Türkçe Erken Dil Gelişim Testi (TEDİL) test. The receptive language, expressive language and total scores of the groups were compared. At the end of the study, statistically significant differences between the receptive language, expressive language and total scores of the groups were obtained. As a result, it was found that children with atypical autism had lower receptive and expressive language skills than children with typical development. Therefore, this should be taken into consideration when providing both special education and language and speech therapy services. It was concluded that the materials and programs to be developed should be designed in accordance with the language and speaking skills of children with autism.
