Abstract

Abstract

With this research, it is aimed to determine the effect of students' fear of Covid-19 on academic motivation. The sample of the study consists of 509 students, 373 female and 136 male, studying at Mersin University Health Services Vocational School. The data of the study were collected online using the personal information form prepared by the researchers, the Academic Motivation Scale and the Covid-19 Fear Scale. In the study, the mean age of the students was found to be 20.96±2.363. It was determined that the mean score of the students from the Covid-19 Fear Scale was 16±6.02, and the mean score of the Academic Motivation Scale was 83.56±19.961. It has been determined that students' academic motivation and fear of Covid-19 are higher in women than in men. When academic motivation is evaluated together with the fear of Covid-19, it has been determined that fear increases motivation. This result shows that being health literate has a protective effect and does not affect academic motivation.
