Lubab ul-Albab is a famous anthology written by a Persian historian, philologist, and author Muhammad ‘Aufī (1171-1242) in the early thirteenth century in eastern Persia as the oldest extant biographical work in Persian literature. The book is the most significant collection of biographies of Persian poets. Avfi wrote this book for an Indian minister after moving to India about eloquent speakers with a musical arrangement. Only two hand-written copies are known to exist. One which was owned by Nathaniel Blend in 1846 and later, the orientalist Edward Brown published it in 1906. The other copy resides in the Berlin Imperial Library. The book is a memoir that provides information about the lives of the poets and writers. This book is mostly a collection of poems that offer many examples of the works of ancient poets who are almost unknown to us.
