Abstract

Abstract

Work is the effort, activity or occupation that individuals carry out to maintain their lives. Family, on the other hand, is a phenomenon that is accepted as the smallest social structure of the society. Work and family organise large part of individuals’ lives. Therefore, we cannot consider the concept of job satisfaction apart from this process and interaction. Because, one of the most important factors affecting the job satisfaction is family. Especially in traditional family structures, the problems experienced in the family or the problems experienced in the business environment cannot be isolated from each other. Consequently, the negativities in the family affect the professional life, and the negativities in the job environment affect the family life. For this reason, the negativities that can be experienced between work and family environment can cause stress and anxiety on the individuals, and this situation can end up with inefficiency and conflict in job environments. As a result, this situation makes the employees unhappy and unsuccessful individuals who are dissatisfied with their job, family and job environment. In line with this general hypothesis, a study on work-family conflict and job satisfaction was carried out for market chain employees operating in the province of Elaziğ.
