In the 19th century, the Ottoman Empire faced a great migration wave from the Caucasus to Anatolia. Thousands of Circassians, who left their homeland due to the political and military pressure of the Russians in the Caucasus region, took refuge in the Ottoman lands. Circassians, who lived together with the Turks in various regions of Anatolia within the conditions of the period, fought shoulder to shoulder with the Turks against the enemy during the National Struggle. The Circassians are a noble nation that protects their culture and makes great sacrifices to pass it on to future generations. Music has an important place in their social life. In this research, the music culture that Circassians try to keep alive in Turkey is examined. Traditional music and instruments constitute the main subject of this research. The aim of the study is to examine the musical cultures of the Circassian nation, which settled in the Ottoman lands from the Caucasus after the great migration and keeps their culture alive today. In particular, their unique instruments and usage purposes are discussed. In the study, only Circassians among the Caucasian origin nations are the subject. In this study is a descriptive study based on literature review. The main center of the study is the instruments that are widely used in Circassian culture. At this point, academic articles, theses and records related to the subject were classified and added to the study
