Abstract
Yazının keşfiyle başlayan bilgiyi kaydetme ve gelecek nesillere aktarabilme, çoğaltım yöntemlerinin gelişmesiyle öğrenme sürecini de hızlandırmıştır. Bu sayede buluşlar, fikirler, tarihi olaylar daha kolay paylaşılabilir hale gelmiştir. Gelişen teknoloji iletişimin de farklılaşmasına ve ilerlemesine yardımcı olmuş, günümüz grafik tasarımın temellerini atmıştır. On beşinci yüzyılda matbanın yaygınlaşması çeşitli tipografik tarzların ortaya çıkmasına neden olmuştur. Sanayi Devrimi, baskının hızlanmasını sağlayan makineleşmeyi başlatmıştır. Tüm bu süreçte tipografi genellikle teknik bir olgu olarak kalmıştır. Yirminci yüzyıl başlarında modernist sanatçıların basılı harflerle gerçekleştirdikleri dinamik ve deneysel çalışmalar, Yeni Tipografi hareketinin oluşumuna zemin hazırlamıştır. Şair ve sanatçılardan oluşan ve modern sanat akımlarının doğmasına sebep olan bu öncü isimler, tipografik tasarımı sanatsal, yaratıcı ve iletişime yönelik bir noktaya taşırken, tipografinin yüzyıllardır değişmeyen katı kural ve kalıplarından kurtulmasına aracı olmuşlardır. Sanatçıların oluşturdukları tasarım dili yalın, güçlü ve dinamik bir anlayıştadır. Yeni Tipografi Hareketinin Ortaya Çıkışı ve Yirminci Yüzyıl Tipografisine Olan Etkileri adlı bu makalede, modernist akımların grafik tasarım ve tipografiye olan etkisi, yeni tipografi hareketinin oluşumu, Almanya, İtalya, Hollanda, Rusya gibi ülkelerdeki gelişimi ve İsveç tipografisine olan etkileri incelenmiştir.

Abstract
The ability to record information and pass it to future generations, which started with the discovery of writing, has accelerated the learning process with the development of reproduction methods. In this way, inventions, ideas and historical events have become easier to share. Technology helped communication to develop and laid the foundations of today's graphic design. In the fifteenth century as printing spread it gave rise to various typographical styles. The Industrial Revolution initiated mechanization, which accelerated printing. Throughout this process, typography has generally remained as a technical feature. At the beginning of the twentieth century, modernist artists initiate the New Typography movement with their dynamic and experimental works. These leading figures which consist of poets and artists, help typographic design reach to an artistic, creative and communicational point. They also help typography freed from its strict rules and forms. The design style created by these artists were simple, powerful and dynamic. In this article, named The Emergence of New Typography Movement and Its Effects on Twentieth Century Typography, the effects of modernist movements on graphic design and typography, the formation of New Typography movement, its development in countries such as Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Russia and its effects on Swedish typography were examined.
