POSTMODERN TOPLUMSAL ÖNCELEME ROMANI BAĞLAMINDA BİR İNCELEME: MİCHEL HOUELLEBECQ’İN HARİTA VE TOPRAKLAR’ I

Abstract
Michel Houellebecq, yapıtlarında ele aldığı konuları acımasız ve gerçekçi bir biçimde ortaya koyması bakımından günümüz çağdaş yazarları arasında en çok okunan ve söyledikleriye büyük tartışmalar başlatan provokatif yazarlardan birisidir. Yapılan eleştirilerle basının gündeminden düşmeyen Houellebecq dünya çapında bir üne kavuşmuş ve eserleri otuzdan fazla dile çevrilmiştir. Yapıtlarında genellikle nesnelerle köleleşen günümüz insanın durumunu, insanı ve dünyayı beklenmedik bir çöküşe doğru sürükleyen sanayi devriminin, kapitalizmin ve teknolojinin toplumsal, siyasal ve ekonomik alanda ortaya çıkan sonuçlarını ortaya koyarak eleştirmektedir. Bu bağlamda, yazarın Harita ve Topraklar adlı romanı sanat eleştirisi çerçevesinde batı toplumunun değişen alışkanlıkları sonucunda kendi çöküşünü nasıl hazırladığını ortaya koymaktadır. Kapitalizmin amacına hizmet eden nesnelerin artışına bağlı olarak modern çağda tüketim toplumunun ortaya çıkışı ve buna bağlı olarak paranın önem kazanması günümüz insanını değersizleştirmiş ve yalnızlaştırmıştır. Bu nedenle modernizme karşıt veya onun uzantısı olarak ortaya çıkan postmodernizm, insanı mutluluğundan ve geleceğe dair umudundan uzaklaştıran tüm durumları eleştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışma Michel Houellebecq’in Harita ve Topraklar adlı romanını, önümüzdeki 30 yıl içinde insanın çöküşünü anlatan postmodern toplumsal önceleme romanı olarak incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.

Abstract
Michel Houellebecq is one of the most widely read and provocative authors among contemporary authors generating great controversy with his sayings in respect to the brutal and realistic presentation of the issues he discusses in his works. Always being one of the main topics of the press agenda with his criticism, Houellebecq has gained a reputation across the world and his works have been translated into more than thirty languages. In his works, he usually criticizes the state of today’s people, enslaved by objects, by revealing the social, political and economic consequences of technology, capitalism, and the industrial revolution dragging the people and the world toward an unexpected decadence. Within this context, the author’s novel The Map and the Territory reveals how the Western world prepares its own decadence as a consequence of the changing habits within the framework of impressionism. The emergence of a consumerist society in the modern age due to the increase in objects serving the purpose of capitalism and correspondingly, money gaining prominence has devalued and isolated today’s people. Therefore, postmodernism which emerged in opposition to modernism or as an extension of it aims to criticize all the situations distracting people from their happiness and hope for the future. This study aims to analyze Michel Houellebecq’s novel The Map and the Territory as a postmodern novel of social anticipation reflecting the decadence of the people within the upcoming 30 years.
