Abstract

Ölüm olgusu birçok toplumda acı bir deneyim ve nihai son olarak kabul edilmektedir. Ölümün birey ve toplum üzerinde bıraktığı etkiler şüphesiz ki sanatın da konusu haline gelmiştir. Ancak sanat tarihine bakıldığında ölümün ele alınış şeklinin dönemlere göre farklılık gösterdiği anlaşılmaktadır. Ölüm özellikle travmatik olaylar neticesince eserlere sembolik, estetik ya da metaforik bir şekilde yansıtılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında çağdaş sanat eserlerindeki ceset figürleri incelenmiş ve bunların travma ile ilişkisi sanat disiplini altında değerlendirilmiştir. Bu makale, görsel araştırma yöntemlerinden görsel içerik analiziyle sanatçıların eserlerini çözümleme ve betimleme yoluyla ele alınmıştır. Makalede çağdaş sanatta bireysel ve toplumsal travmaların, ölüm kavramı aracılığıyla ceset imgesinin kullanımını nasıl şekillendirdiğini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Sonuç olarak örneklerin travmatik olayları zaman ve mekân ötesine taşıdığı ayrıca sanatçıların da dönemine göre ölüm/ceset imgesini kendine özgü biçimlerde ifade edildiği görülmüştür.

Abstract

The phenomenon of death is widely regarded as a painful experience and the ultimate end in many societies. Its impact on individuals and communities has undeniably become a subject of art. However, an examination of art history reveals that the representation of death varies across different periods. Death, particularly resulting from traumatic events, has been reflected in artworks symbolically, aesthetically, or metaphorically. Within the scope of this research, corpse figures in contemporary art have been analyzed, and their relationship with trauma has been evaluated within the discipline of art. This article employs visual content analysis, a method of visual research, to interpret and describe artists' works. The study aims to explore how individual and societal traumas shape the use of the corpse image through the concept of death in contemporary art. The findings indicate that the examples transcend traumatic events beyond time and space, and artists express the death/corpse image in unique ways according to their era.
