Anatomical division in literary texts does not represent the cellular process of a fragmented gene; rather, it signifies the continuity of the fragmented subject, divided consciousness, and existential transmission. This continuity sometimes establishes its own cycle and movement through a word, sometimes through a voice, sometimes through a scent, and sometimes through a touch. In this respect, the hand moves beyond being a biological organ and assumes the role of conveying cultural, ontological, and metaphorical division. The study explains that division is not merely a physiological fragmentation, but also attributes to it the values of knowledge on the temporal plane, memory in the intellectual sense, identity in terms of personality, and emotion in the affective sense. Division acquires meaning through the embodiment of the parts that find significance within the individual in other bodies, objects, and discourses. The study examines the poems of the İkinci Yeni poets that are concerned with anatomical division and that contain anatomical division, revealing the semantic field of anatomical division on the metaphorical plane. In doing so, the aim is not only to present the metaphor of the hand’s divided meaning as an imagistic element, but also to demonstrate its role as a constitutive element at the center of poetics. While the fragmented nature of existence on both the individual and social levels is presented throughout the study, the mechanism through which it generates new meanings is also explored within the poetry of the period.
