FERHAT AND ŞİRİN FOLK TALE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE HERO WITH A THOUSAND FACES

Abstract
In this article the folk story “Ferhat and Şirin” is analyzed within the context of Joseph Campbell’s The Hero With A Thousand Faces book and with his “seperation- progress and return” formula. This journey occured in a circular line. The result of study can be summarized with these sentences: Ferhat who fell in love with Şirin at the beginning of the story is not the same person with the finishing point of story’s Ferhat. Because Ferhat overcomes lots of struggles to meet with Şirin and to become a hero as a New- Ferhat.
