STUDENTS OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND PRE-SCHOOL TEACHING COMPARISON OF TEACHER EFFICACY AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS THE TEACHING PROFESSION

Abstract

This study aims to find out whether there are any meaningful differences among the students of child development program and pre-school teaching in terms of attitude and competence. The sampling of the study consists of 197 final-year students who study in Kilis 7 Aralık University involved program. "Personal Information Form", "Attitudes towards the Teaching Profession "and "Teacher Efficacy Scale" was used in order to collect data in relational scanning model. Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskall Wallis Variance Analysis and Spearman Rank Correlation Analysis were used in statistical analysis. At the end of the research it was found out that while there is no significant difference in the attitude levels on teaching profession among groups, there is a significant differentiation in terms of professional competence level. In a closer look to professional competence level, there is a meaningful difference among pre-school teaching students within the variable of "the type of high school." In addition, in terms of "satisfied with the department" and "select the department wishfully" variables, both child development program and pre-school teaching department students showed meaningful differentiation. There is a positive correlation between "Attitudes the towards Teaching Profession" and "Internal Efficacy".
