Abstract

This research has been prepared for determining how parents’ educational statuses influence determination of students’ perceptions to elementary music lesson. Prepared survey method by researchers, in the direction of expert opinion has been applied on totally 324 students who are studying at Özel Güneş Okulları (Güneş Private Schools) associated with Erzurum provincial directorate for national education. A pre-test method has been applied for increasing data quality, providing stability of results and extinguishing possible perception and construal problems during gathering data process before implementation phase of the prepared survey means. The method called as Respondent debriefing has been used for respondents to perceive survey questions. It has been determined that whether there are questions that should be supplemented to survey or taken out from survey. Following the search, nonparametric tests have been used by drawing from SPSS packed software for statistical analysis of obtained data in accordance with different variables. The obtained results indicate that the presence of people who are interested in music in family, are important factors for development of students’ musical talent.
