Abstract

In our study, following a review of Fikret Otyam’s biography as a multi-potent Turkish painter, explanations will be made on symbols and motives which form paintings of the Artist. Additionally, it will be tried to be interpretated of paintings that we selected from Otyam The Artist via emphasizing light, color and the effects of colors as well. Fikret Otyam, as a social realistic artist, who gave very valuable products in terms of painting at first, journalism, writing, sculpture in Turkish art arena. He witnessed to the life of Anatolian humans in his paintings by direct observations. While figures of human and animal are being masterly painted in their natural habitats, highlighted symbols are very effective. Through an interview with pioneering Turkish painter Mr. Muharrem Pire on the paintings of Fikret Otyam, it will be tried to be realized an art criticism via 9 paintings that we selected from Otyam’s work.
