Abstract

Orkhon inscriptions, a product written in VIII century, in respect to the language material they contain, demonstrate an elaborated structure in the way of the abstract concepts. These abstract productions of language present significant information about Turk’s perception of universe and philosophical thinking in its early period. Considering the inscriptions as a pure war history and the language elements as a grammatical material brings about the cultural property of the texts to be ignored. The concept “virtue” in the language of Orkhon Inscriptions is determined to be used with the characteristics wisdom and bravery. The utterance “due to being wisdom and bravery he won the war” clearly demonstrate that fighting for its society and proving bravery are the greatest virtue. That being wisdom and bravery of personality spreads over the society is seen important with regard to the consistency and survival of the country.
