Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationships of teachers’ percieved ethical leadership behaviours and administrative abilities of the principals, and teachers’ affective structures with abusive supervision at primary schools. Totally 360 teachers chosen by the random method, who work in 46 state primary schools at Ankara in 2014-2015 academic year, constitute participants of the research. The data were collected using an “Ethical Leadership Scale”, “Administrative ability Scale”, an “Affective Structure Scale” and an “Abusive Supervision Scale.” In the analyses of the data, means, standart deviation, Pearson Moments Product Correlation Coefficient and Regression Analysis were used. The results mainly showed that ethical leadership administrative ability are negattively associated with abusive supervision. Abusive supervision is positively associated with negative affective status. Additionally, the regression analysis showed that ethical leaderships determine principals’ abusive supervision more than other variables. The findings are discussed along with some theoretical and practical implications.
