Abstract

Education and literature are like two sides of the coin. The main fact that determines the language, and therefore the boundaries of the individual is literature and its essential mission in education. Especially during pre-school period, formation and development of personality and its converting into creativitiy is provided via oral cultur products such as fairy tales, rhymes, riddles, lullabies, nursery rhymes etc. Fundamentals of high quality education and student profile are generated in this period and thus, it is necessary to ensure children a fairly productive verbal period in order to raise healthy future generations. The aim of this study is to be able to propose solutions for today’s education and to raise awareness by using the possibilities of interdisciplinary literature. Unfortunately, in our education system pre-school studies are not at the desired level. Therefore, children’s and youth literature should be improved and especially pre-school works should be supported via criticized materials. It is very important to develop qualified materials for pre-school children and teach them practically in the form of game to make children internalize the information, and live as a healthy and conscious person. In this context, it’s a great necessity, opening of Children’s and Youth Literature departments in universities, on the basis of interdisciplinary studies (Literature, Education, Psychology, Information Technology, Theater, Painting, Music, Ceramic, Agriculture, Medicine, Law, Art History etc.) to be carried out in cooperation with the faculties of education and literature. In these departments should be aimed that child learns with family-child-educator-author partnership by experience. This education process should be conducted in an interactive manner. Relevant to subject, each discipline or field of art in its own place must be presented to child in a concrete manner. Therefore, it is necessary to make changes in types and content of knowledge that should be included in education programs today. Accordingly, both types of knowledge in the field of education and education programs carried out to children must have some supporting features to instil literature love.
