In this article, the term abtar (i.e. one who is cut off) is tried to be discussed. Firstly, the term abtar is defined through its dictionary meaning in Arabic. Then its tectual and contextual position in Quran is examined. The meaning of this term is tried to be dealt by taking its usage in the sayings of the Prophet (PBUH) into consideration. Finally, some comparisons are made by means of analysing the explanations concerning this term in various sources on the Quranic exegesis. And the article is completed by a conclusion section
