Abstract

The great number of scales developed for the Enneagram (9 personalities) system that examines the personality types influencing human attitudes and behaviours, as well as high item numbers thereof, make data collection even more difficult. In this research, it was aimed to develop a scale with fewer items in order to determine the Enneagram personality types. In the pilot scheme of 4-point likert type draft questionnaire finalised with the expert opinion and performed with 58 people, it was observed that all items were conformed with the retest criteria. The validity and reliability studies were performed with the data collected from 196 people who were randomly selected by the school principals in Istanbul. It was observed that 27 items of the scale (?=0,901) exhibit excellent reliability and significant (p<0,001) item distinguishing properties. According to the results of the EFA carried out for the construct validity, it was revealed that the total variance of the scale with 9 factors was 73,899%; and the CFA results (with p=0,000; ?2/df=1,41; RMSEA=0,045, CFI =0,949 and GFI=0,875 values) showed that the conformance indicators of the test taker model were within the suitable reference ranges. The Enneagram Personality Test that passed the analysis of content validity, reliability and conduct validity is suitable for use to observe the relationships of personality types with different social variables.
