Abstract

Figures, which is one of the basic elements of composition in the art from the past to the present day, take place in the artworks as various and different forms and interpretations depending on socioeconomic situations, technological developments, rapid urbanization and changes in cultural structure. Especially with the developments after 1940’s, artists have used figures within the daily routines and from time to time they preferred the simplicity of expression in order to catch dramatic effects. Lucian Freud, following an interesting path in his paintings in the 1960’s, was recognized as one of the artists who attracted considerable attention in the 20th century with his brush strokes, nu 's, artistic attitude and unique style in his compositions. This study is a screening model research of the figurative paintings and the famous painter Lucian Freud’s artworks. The artist who could observe every detail of the figure's body with a unique perspective, took care to convey the audience with the moods of his models and colored his artworks with a unique interpretation.
