Abstract

In this study, based on George Gerbner’s Cultivation Theory and the literature on construction of identity through mass media, mention the relationship between currently a growing number of children’s television channels and consumerism. It is argued that children's television channels, via execution of broadcasting forms and contents in which consumerism is presented as an ideology, cultivate a different cultural life style and understanding in children's consciousness than reality. Within the scope of the research, semiologic message system analyzes were applied to the 3 most preferred children's television channel according to the 2015 rating reports and cultural indicators in the context of consumerism were revealed.
