Abstract

Although there are some researches on translation training, there is little research regarding testing and evaluation of translation competence. However, testing and evaluation of translation competence directly influences the definition of purpose, planning, objectivity and therefore the quality of translation training. Healthy testing and evaluation requires a concrete definition of the knowledge, skills and behaviours of university students to be measured. For this reason, the primary aim of this study is to describe the target behaviours for applied lectures in translation training. By means of descriptive and exploratory research methods and an interdisciplinary approach, the data of education and translation studies are examined. In this context, the definition of translation competence in translation studies is adapted to the Bloom taxonomy developed within the scope of education studies. The data obtained in the study constitutes the definition of the target behaviours as the basis of testing and evaluation in translation training.
