Abstract

The most important factor that I choose this topic, the theme of woman in the Turkish - German cinemas, has not been examined up to now. Likewise; when we say immigration to Germany, the first thing comes to mind is life of working class, mostly the men that have arm strength. In the same way; when it also comes to life in Germany and its reflection to literary works, women always stay silent keeping in the background because men exist more. In this study, the reason why I try to disambiguate Turkish woman who is reflected in the cinemas: Cinema, as one of the most extensive and important communication instruments, has an effective role. Instead of reflecting one-to-one, cinema creates own viewpoint quintessentially, like novel. Cinema or movie, which reflects different perspectives and correspondingly can be handled in different ways, gives clue about many developments in today’s world. The movie chosen for this study is a production that puts its stamp on that time. The movie of 40 square meters Germany, filmed by Tevfik Başer in 1986, is important in terms of based on emphasizing the identity of woman and first generation woman reflection. Based on this movie, there will be dwelled upon connection between time and place on the first generation Turkish woman.
