Abstract

Today, social media has become one of the channels of marketing communication that is used effectively in almost every sector. It is seen that travel agencies and hospitality enterprises frequently resort to social media usage in tourism sector as well. Tourist guide is one of the important service providers of tourism which is trying to generate income with intellectual capital in the field of tourism. Tourist guides can work independently or depending on a travel agency. Especially independent tourist guides are able to earn more revenue depends on their effective use of marketing communication channels, mainly social media. This study was conducted to determine what tourist guides need to do to use social media more effectively. For this purpose, firstly information was given about social media, and then examples of the use of different social media channels by tourist guides were given. In the conclusion section, suggestions were made about what should be considered in order to use these social media channels more effectively.
