VIEWS OF TEACHER AND STUDENT ON THE CURRICULUM OF THE SECONDARY SCHOOL MATHEMATICS APPLICATIONS COURSE ORTAOKUL MATEMATİK UYGULAMALARI DERSİ ÖĞRETİM PROGRAMININ UYGULANMASINA İLİŞKİN ÖĞRETMEN VE ÖĞRENCİ GÖRÜŞLERİ
The course of mathematical applications is a gradual course that has been taught selectively in secondary schools since the academic year of 2012/2013. This research is a qualitative study aiming to determine teachers' and students' views on the application of curriculum of mathematics applications course which is frequently preferred by the students. The study group has consisted of 6 mathematics teachers and 10 eighth grade students in official and private secondary schools in the Silifke district of Mersin province in the academic year of 2016/2017. The research data were collected by using semi-structured interview technique from teachers and focus group interview technique from students and analyzed with descriptive analysis method. The research findings reveal that the mathematics courses are often seen as continuation of mathematics courses and revision of the subjects and test solving are generally done during the lessons.
