Abstract

Between 1845 and 1846, Europe experienced the greatest hunger in peace and epidemics was a major problem. In addition, the population density in the cities, impoverishment and long working hours have prepared the state for a revolution. It began unrest in various cities in Europe and it has spread to Germany. After this insurrection a revolution was made in Germany. In the same period, the Ottoman Tanzimat influenced the empire. This edict restricted the rights of the Sultan and the empire granted non-Muslims with new rights. This was a new procedure for the Ottoman state. Freedom in Europe was increasingly developed in 1789, after the French Revolution. Nationalist ideas began between 1848-1871 in Germany and Italy on the basis of the national concept. This process of revolution has not affected the Ottoman Empire, but thanks to the Hungarian refugees, new ideas have prevailed in the Ottoman state. This study began with the constitutional movements in Germany (1848). Process was discussed in this thesis. Ottomans and Germans have close ties and therefore the influence of the German revolution on the Ottoman Empire was investigated.
