Abstract

Each field brought about by digitization and the internet, today, have become influential in television broadcasting. Because the new generations are born in this digitization process, a new digital generation is claimed to occur. Digitization is believed to be the determinant in all the lives of this digitally native generation that have internalized this way of thinking. For this reason, in this process, there has been a conversion of television broadcasting in all fields. Internet-connected television broadcasting systems such as OTT, IPTV, Web TV have therefore been developed. Also this process has undergone a transformation in Media Studies. Media Studies have been transformed into audience studies which have involved the viewer into the work, and the name prosumer is given to the viewers. In this work, an answer to the question whether there is evolution towards the Internet television and the user was sought by performing focus group discussions with digital natives and digital immigrants. As a result, the main reason for the digital natives and digital immigrants to use the television connected to the Internet was found to be using the Internet television to catch the television content they missed during linear transmissions.
