Abstract

This study aims to reveal the narcissistic outlook in ancient greece sports culture. When the structure of Ancient Greece society is examined, it is seen that there are many narcissistic behaviors and approaches. As a result of the readings, it was determined that in Ancient Greece, gymnastics was a free male citizen’s privilege in the first times, and that the sport is part of highly educated elites due to their superior abilities. In addition, in Ancient Greece, the athletes wishing to participate in the Olympics had to be free and not commit an infamous crime, and had to be of Greek origin. For these reasons, it is concluded that Ancient Greece society has narcissistic structure. In the ancient Olympics, winning athletes were taken to the Temple of Zeus, where their coronation ceremonies were held, and those athletes also had a right to plant their own pillars near the religious shrine.
