The aim of this study was to examine middle school students' perceptions of the problems existing in their society by means of the caricatures they draw. In this way, data would be gathered on what problems around middle school students are in different cities, how they perceive these problems, their feelings and thoughts on these problems, and how teachers supplement social studies instruction by using caricatures. Documentary analysis, a qualitative research method, would be used in this study. Besides, art-based research approach would be adopted in examining the caricatures. The data consists of the papers on which the students drew caricatures revealing their perspectives on social problems, and the forms including open-ended questions that require detailed explanations of their caricatures. In the selection of the participants, convenient sampling that is one of the purposive sampling methods was used. The sample consisted of 45 seventh graders, 22 from Adiyaman province and 23 from Denizli province. The problems that the students touched upon in their caricatures were gathered under two themes: "Environmental Problems" and "Violence Problems". As a result, it was observed that the students from Adıyaman and Denizli interpreted social problems under the influence of the culture they lived in.
