Abstract

Asset tax is an extraordinary tax that has been implemented during the Second World War. Although Turkey has not entered the war, it has not survived its economic adverse effects. The disintegration of the young population, the deterioration of export and import balances, and the extreme monetary easing have deeply shaken the economic balances. In this environment, people who are engaged in opportunistic commercial activities such as black market, stockists, are extremely wealthy, while the public's purchasing power has been weakened. The government has decided to take a tax on these problems as a remedy for individuals who provide one-time excessive earnings. In this study, the practices of Elazığ, which is taken from wealth and profit holders without regard to religion difference, are transferred by using the city's local newspaper Turan.
