Abstract

Cities have their own characteristics; they have integrated their identity with the social structure by forming their identities which are formed by physical, cultural, socioeconomic, historical and formal factors and which are a subject. It should be; to complete this process without destroying the current identity of the city and existing identity. In the study, the effects of Istanbul, Izmir, Konya, Van, Antalya, Diyarbakir and Samsun provinces with historical and cultural codes from the seven regions of our country on the urban identity and image of Metropolitan Municipality logos were tried to be evaluated. Urban logos are analyzed in terms of graphic design elements, as well as cultural social, etc. they are nourished and belong to. focusing on the harmonization ratios with the values. An assessment was made to reveal the changing structure, historical texture, socio-cultural and socio-economic values of the cities based on the logos of the determined Metropolitan Municipalities and the appropriateness levels of the city's values were assessed and examined graphically. The visual data required for the evaluation can be obtained from the official web pages of the Metropolitan Municipalities under examination. To complete the theoretical dimension of the research, national and international literature was searched, and structured interview forms were prepared and the opinions of experts in the field were consulted. However, it has been determined that the logos are mostly attributed to the climate of the province, its hydrographic characteristics, historical texture, thus contributing to the protection and survival of provincial values.
