Abstract

Nedim Günsür is one of the most important Turkish painters who gained reputation with his works in Contemporary Turkish Painting Art. This research is a study in the screening model that examines Nedim Günsür's artistic style and interprets his retrospective works with examples. He started his educational life at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1942 and tended to the works which supported the adherence of traditional arts of Bedri Rahmi Eyüpoğlu, the instructor of Nedim Günsür in his early years. He went to Paris with a scholarship he gained and after returning to Turkey, he produced more sophisticated, meticulous and detailed works with a social realistic understanding. He worked as impressionist in his early period while as abstact and close to abstract mentality in his years in Paris with a wide variety of topics such as miners, landscapes, still life, kites, fishermen, streets, amusement parks, holiday places, market places and circuses. In the following years, with his style expressed as a figurative expressionist that he had caught in the foreground, the artist attracted attention with his richly illustrated paintings and original style in which naive breeches took place.
