Abstract

The purpose of this study is to figure out the problems of the social sciencet eachers working in secondry schools in Çorum about teaching social sciences and to put forward some suggestıons about the solutions. Survey method was used in the research. The universe of the study consists of social science teachers working in secondry schools in Çorum. The data obtained was gathered through the data tool developed by Akşit (2011). The data obtaining tool contains three sections. In the first section, there are questions about the personal details of the social science teachers. In the second part, a questiona ire with 5 degree Likert type was prepared to findout the problems that the social sciences face with in their classes during teaching and the third section there are open-ended questions in which the teachers express the problems in their classes. The obtained data was analysed by using SSPS 21 packet program. The answers given to the open-ended questions were classified related to common escriptions of the teachers. At the end of the study, it is determined that the students have positive attitude towards social sciences and social science teachers. Besides this, the students claimed that social science is a subject that the students should memorize and they added that they could not keep the subjects in mind for a long time.
