Abstract

The purpose of this research, to uncover the six grade students’ thoughts on the use of games in teaching mathematics. The sample of the study were 21 students studying for a secondary school in the sixth grade selected by sampling method. Research data was collected by semi-structured interview forms which consisting five open-ended questions. Research data were analyzed with descriptive analysis approach. Many students stated a favorable opinion of using games in the teaching math based on the results of the survey. Almost all of the students considers that, teaching maths with games is funny, enjoyable and pleasant. However, most of the students using positive expressions about environment of learning with games , stated that a small number of students who dislike and think it is so noisy. Overall, students perspective about the mathematics teaching and learning environment with game is positive.
