Abstract

Advancement from Primary Education to Secondary Education (TEOG) exams have been held since 2013-2014 education year including Turkish, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Culture of Religion and Knowledge of Ethics, Revolution History and Kemalism and Foreign Language for 8th graders. The results of these exams are utilised to determine the academic success level of students and the high schools in which they will pursue their education. This study was conducted to investigate the distribution of TEOG Mathematics exam questions according to the Renewed Bloom’s Taxonomy (RBT). In accordance with this purpose, the math questions from 2014-2015 Fall Semester TEOG have been categorised according to the RBT’s cognitive process and information dimensions. Research data has been gathered using document investigation which is a qualitative research method.The research concluded that the questions piled up on the lower cognitive levels, were distributed unevenly, did not include evaluation and creation level problems, additionally the questions fell into cognitive and operational knowledge level of the information dimension, and none of the questions required high level mental activities of high cognitive information level.
