Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the adequancy of enviromental education in the 6. and 7th grade social studies courses in Turkey. For this purpose, environmental and environmental education was defined in the study and the 6th and 7th grade social studies textbooks started to be taught since 2017-2018 education year in Turkey were examined using the document analysis analysis pattern included in qualitative research methods. environmental education. It would be useful to look at examples of environmental education in Europe and Asia so that the situation of environmental education can be analyzed in the social studies textbooks in our country. For the sake of point of view, web-based sources of information on environmental education in European and Asian countries have been examined to understand the dimension of environmental education abroad. When the social studies textbooks were examined, it was determined that 6th and 7th grade textbooks included environmental issues. It has been determined that the resources of our country in the 6th class (4th Unit) provide information about environmental education. In the 7th grade, information related to the environment has been transferred in the Population, Economy and Social Life, Living Democracy, Intercountry Bridges in our country. Furthermore, it has been understood that environmental images are also included.
