Abstract

Thracian dialects have a rich vocabulary. Many elements from each area live in the folkspeech with their various uses. The names of organs among these elements have a distinctive feature in linguistics because of contained in the presence of basic words that make up a language's vocabulary. Thracian dialects has a variety in the naming of organs. Dialect studies about the region provide many materials about organ names. Due to this reason, the names of the organs should be specially evaluated in the field of dialect investigations. In our work, we tried to classify the names of organs in thesis, book and compilation dictionary on the Thracian dialects under different headings, based on its places, structures and tasks. We have gathered the organs under the headings of main and intermediate because of each one has a distinctive feature and function. In the second part of our work, the examination of organ names compiled from the Thracian dialects in terms of their morphological, etymological and semantic properties are included. The vast majority of the organ names examined consist of a single word, there are also organ names which are in the form of noun phrase. Except for a few foreign origin words in Thracian dialects, the names of the organs are almost all of them Turkish and named in a highly original form. Also the names of the organs are important in terms of revealing the strong expression of the Turkish public and the Turkish language.
