Abstract

In the post-industrial era, an important transition occurred in art material with the developments in technology and as a result, digital and technology-based art have emerged. Technology has become integrated into art especially with the new media artworks created with new media technologies such as computer and internet. Audience-based approaches and the context of interaction in art have become very important. Along with the transformation in artworks, radical changes have occurred in the concept of museology and curatorial practices. The adoption of new means of approaches and technological applications has emerged in the experience of the audience with the new media art which broke all ties with the traditional art and gained an interdisciplinary identity by means of multimedia materials. New curatorial practices have been adopted especially in displaying new media art and interaction and audience experience came into prominence. In this study, the effect of technology on art and curatorial practices has been discussed and the importance of the interaction and audience experience has been emphasized. With the examples of the various curatorial practices for new media art, an overall approach to the effective display of the interaction and experience-centered artworks has been introduced.
