Abstract

Simav is one of the most populated districts of the nomadic (yörük) population in Kütahya. Weaving, which are part of the traditional lifestyles of the nomads (yörük), have developed in traditional culture for centuries, reaching day-to-day. Because it is suitable for the nomadic lifestyle, it has become a preferred region for many ethnic groups. There are many villages formed by these groups in the province which is located on the migration route of various nomadic groups such as Karakeçili, Kızılkeçili and Afşar. The Karakeçili nomads, one of the largest nomadic groups in Anatolia, have established about 20 villages in the province. The two most important of these are the Aşağıdolaylar and Yukarıdolaylar villages, when examined in terms of traditional weaving culture. In the study; these two villages will examine the weaving tradition and the technical, pattern and motif characteristics of these weavings.
