Abstract

Although they issue similar themes, the approaches of our two authors Yaşar Kemal and Kemal Tahir, who have different views, are not the same to the eastern man, without doubt. In the works of Kemal Tahir who meets the eastern man after he meets the Turkish male villagers, the eastern man has a negative image. Yaşar Kemal’s romantic realism against the naturalist attitude of Kemal Tahir has determined the basic fiction in the authors’ works and also the style of the authors. The statist view that forms Kemal Tahir’s point of view turns into more anomalous, civilian colour. The eastern man in Kemal Tahir’s works is rogue, ignorant, addicted to interest, whereas in Yaşar Kemal’s works he becomes a brave person who objects to the cruelty of the landowners and who is dependent on his cultural roots. In this study, the reflections of two different views will be examined.
