Abstract

The Tanin newspaper, which has an important place in the history of Turkish pres and political thought, was founded by Hüseyin Cahit (Yalçın), Tevfik Fikret and Hüseyin Kazım in the first days of the Second Constitutionalist Period. From the first day of publication on August 1, 1908, it has been accepted as the voice of the Union and Progress due to the connections of its writers. During the First World War, Tanin was a political newspaper where the political views of the party and the developments in internal and external politics were publicly disclosed. In this context, the aim of the study is to analyze the beginning of the First World War and Ottoman Empire’s entry to the war and how this was presented the public through views of the military-civilian administrators of the Party of Union and Progress who were determinant during 1914-1918 era, and to analyze this process through political articles written on foreign policy published in the Tanin newspaper.
