Abstract

This study, performed in relation to the place of the Conservative Party in the Turkish Political Life, has been carried out in order to interpret the present position of the MHP (Nationalist Movement Party) and to make a political analysis from this point of view. This political line has gone through many crisis of turbulence including the discharge of the followers towards ANAP (Motherland Party) during the period of gap after the September 12, 1980 military coup, the division of the MÇP (Nationalist Working Party) with BBP (Grand Unity Party) tendency in 1992, and the death of Alparslan Turkes. Conservative Party; is a political party founded by the guidance of Alparslan Turkes exactly in July 7, 1983 during this adverse period, which was experienced because of the detention of Turkes and his followers after the September 12, 1980 military coup. Conservative Party, founded on the basis of the post-coup recovery of the nationalist groups, was unable to participate in the general elections of November 6, 1983 and took its place in the Turkish political history as a transitional period party. While the conviction of Turkes continued, the executives at the presidential level under the initiative of Turkes in the Conservative Party took office until 1987 when the political bans were lifted and the leadership took over the management.
