Abstract

The main aim of this study is to determine the views of managers on occupational health and safety practices in vocational and technical education institutions. The research was designed via descriptive survey model of quantitative research methods. The population of the research is the vocational-technical education institution and the non-formal education institution administrators in the provinces and districts of Kütahya in the academic year of 2017-2018. Within the scope of the research, no sampling was done and the whole universe was tried to be reached. The total number of managers in the sample is 168. The data of this study was collected by a questionnaire; consisting of 4 sub-dimensions and 36 items. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, variance tests and correlation analysis. According to the findings of the research, vocational and technical education institution administrators fully participates in the importance and neccessity of occupational health and safety educations. However, they indicate that the level of institutionalization of occupational health and safety in educational institutions and the adequacy of occupational health and safety training are not at a high level. In addition, the perceptions of the risks and responsibilities of OHS implementations in the institutions of vocational and technical education institutions are also high. While the views of vocational and technical education institution managers about occupational health and safety do not differ according to the variables of gender, administrative duty, branch and education status, the variables such as occupational seniority and time spent in the same school and the risks and responsibilities of OHS practices have a significant and positive relations.
