Abstract

A musician's discernment, despite being important, is not sufficient for the execution of the Russian Modern musical composer D. Shostakovich's 24 Prelude-Fugue with its intrinsic value and reflecting its scientific and emotional content. In this sense, the careful scrutiny of his Prelude and Fugue in A Minor and E Minor from the 24 Prelude-Fugue, followed by the transcription of the special means of expression within its content and its execution with interpretations of precise and utmost certainty is essential. Shostakovich's pieces are lustrous and written according to classical traditions, but also contain extraordinarily difficult expressions, which render these pieces significant for musicians. The roots of the construction of the themes and melodies have been explained through the variability of polyphonic styles using examples. Master instructors have made analyses on the Prelude-Fugue in A Minor and Prelude-Fugue in E Minor to demonstrate Shostakovich's creativity, style and interpretation technique, and method to young executioners. The profound relationship between the preludes and the fugues have been emphasized. The rich interpretation characteristics have been discussed, and Shostakovich's use of legatos and pedals have been explained through examples. In this article, by emphasizing the importance of small ligatures and long legatos, information on the dynamics of the Preludes and Fugues have been given. Shostakovich's polyphonic rules and interpretation forms have been acknowledged. In our country, scientific literature on this issue is very limited. This work helps explain the difficult and intracate form of Shostakovich's 24 Preludes and Fugues and help the executioner understand the philosophical and emotional form in the pieces by showing easy piano techniques.
