Any kind of work was shared by people and some were entitled as employer while others were working as employee. Various legal arrangements have been made in order to protect the weak side in work relationships. Accordingly even international legislation focusing on personal rights, right to health, right to protection of personal data, and the right to live were made. Due to the changes in work life and the improvement on human rights, the concept of right for occupational health and safety has broadened. In addition, regulations relevant with occupational health and safety were also broadened to cover the workers inside work place and outside the work place. People in the same environment are also protected under the regulations. Apart from those, the environment is also protected under occupational health and safety legislations. This article emphasizes the importance of occupational health and safety. It discusses why it is necessary to improve legislation.
