Abstract

Russia was one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world until the end of XX century. Various Muslim communities having begun to live under Russian rule since XIX century were subjected to Russianization and assimilation policies during the Tsarist and Soviet periods. On the other hand, in the world wars, these Muslim communities became an important military resource for the Russians. However, those who were captured were fought against the Russian army this time, and especially after the end of World War II, the concept of homeland for Muslims in this situation became very vague. In this study, it will be presented an example from the city of Manisa to the story of the Russian Muslims having came to Turkey. Despite being a small community, a tangible picture of the asylum actions into Turkey of Russian Muslims will be presented with official records. Key words: Russian Muslims, Asylum, Manisa.
