Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to measure the level of knowledge of secondary school students about recycling and to determine their opinions. As the study group, 502 middle school students who were educated in two middle schools in Giresun provincial center in 2016-2017 academic year were used. When the class levels of the students are examined; there are 173 students in the 6th grade, 164 students in the 7th grade and 165 students in the 8th grade. There were 242 male and 260 female students. In the quantitative part of the study, the Recycling Success Test (GDBT) developed by the researcher was applied to the study group as a data collection tool. The data were analyzed in the SPSS package program. When the results are examined, it is determined that there is a difference in the level of recycling information according to the class levels and gender of the students. In the qualitative part of the research; the participants were interviewed by 20 students from each grade level through the semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher after the applications to determine the opinions about the recycling of the students and the obtained data were evaluated by the content analysis method. When the results are examined, it is seen that students have knowledge of recycling and want to participate in recycling practices.
