TEACHER CANDIDATE OPINIONS ON MICRO TEACHING TECHNIQUE APPLIED IN VIOLIN TEACHING

Abstract

It is a very complex task to train teachers at first and maintain their later professional skills during a service life. The micro teaching technique was developed to eliminate this complexity and enable teachers to acquire professional skills. In this study, it is aimed to determine the objectives and implementation stages of micro teaching technique and to determine the achievements of these stages by teacher candidate opinions. The application process of micro teaching technique was applied to Necmettin Erbakan University Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education Fine Arts Education Department Music Education Department and individual instrument violin (n = 7) teacher candidates and Konya Çimento Fine Arts High School Music Department violin (n = 7) students. During the application process, “teach-re-teach” cycle enabled each teacher candidate to take 10 lessons in 5 sessions. When the process is complete, the thoughts of teacher candidates regarding the stages and functionality of the micro teaching technique, as well as what they have achieved, were determined through the interview technique. Descriptive analysis of the received views was applied and the collected data highlighted the shared views of teacher candidates. As a result, teacher candidates found micro teaching technique useful and expressed their opinion that this technique could be used in teaching different instruments.
