One of areas that best reflects the position of aesthetics and art conception in daily life is traditional weavings. Band weaving, being one of the traditional weavings, is a weaving that has a past dating back to old times, and which especially started in Egypt and continued in Mesopotamia region and maintained its existence in different regions of Anatolia and Central Asia and constituted a cultural richness with variety of colour and patterns. Band weavings which belongs to a kind of hand weaving, are narrow and band weavings with heald where the pattern is seen in a warp. On the other hand, band weavings with tablet are weavings with cards (sheets). While both veawings seem fundamentally similar, they show varieties with respect to weaving style. People who have produced such weavings have significantly decreased in today’s life. It is of paramount importance that this long-standing traditional art should be sustained and improved with new designs and handed to future generations as well as maintained its traditional features in hand weaving. For that reason, in this work, history of band weaving with card and heald, equipments used, areaa of use and stages of applications and technical properties are investigated by giving samples.},author={Dilek TÜM CEBECİ},year={2018},journal={The Journal of Social Sciences}}
